Equip Vehicles with "Senses"
Sophisticated and easy-to-use driver assistance systems make it easier for drivers to concentrate on the task of driving. A top-fit driver is a key requirement when it comes to preventing accidents. Versatile assistance systems give the vehicles "senses" and can react to traffic situations and road conditions. They help drivers to become more aware as well as minimising driver distractions and stress.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class: The camera-based Lane Keeping Assist can recognise lane markings by evaluating the differences in contrast between the road surface and the boundary lines. |
Radar sensors and cameras enable the vehicle to look a long way ahead and monitor its surroundings. Electronic driver assistance systems can warn drivers when they show evidence of tiredness, are too close to the vehicle in front and when they leave their lane recognised by the system or cannot see the blind spot. They can "detect " speed limits and people on the road. At night, the Intelligent Light System improves the driver's range of vision and the viewing angle, depending on the situation on the road, as well as providing better illumination on bends. Adaptive Highbeam Assist detects oncoming vehicles or illuminated vehicles in front, switches between high beam and low beam and adapts the headlight range to the distance of the recognized road users.
As well as enhancing the safety of the vehicles themselves safer, Daimler can make drivers safer. Our intensive safety training courses are designed to improve the reaction capabilities of bus and truck drivers in critical situations.
