Prepared for emergencies: Getting it right when it really counts
Saving lives safely involves both training and protection for emergency service personnel. Live demonstrations and rescue guidelines readily accessible on the Internet show the experts precisely how and where vehicles involved in an accident can be stabilized and sensitive components such as the fuel tank or battery can be made safe.

To ensure that the emergency service personnel can reach the scene reliably and safely, they must be able to depend on safe, reliable technology. Special Mercedes-Benz vehicles are therefore fitted with specially developed safety equipment: The Sprinter RTW, for example, can rush to the scene with Adaptive ESP®. This electronic stability program is the first of its type to take account of the van’s load condition in calculating its reactions, above and beyond the functions familiar from passenger cars. And the helpers in need can rely on EBV, ASR, BAS, ABS, the 16-inch hydraulic brake system, and a highly rigid occupant cell.
Fire-fighters, too, benefit from state-of-the-art safety systems in their vehicles: The Atego LF 10/6 with the Telligent Braking System and ABS, for example, can reach its destination quickly and reliably.
