Ontario Bus Industries designs and manufactures the first 30-foot x 96" wide prototype Orion I bus
1979
Ontario Bus Industries designs and delivers the first 35-foot x 96" wide Orion I transit bus
1982
The first 30-foot and 35-foot Orion I vehicles are delivered from the new Bus Industries of America plant in New York
1985
The company develops and manufactures the Orion PeopleMover, a 75-foot tractor-trailer vehicle (the Orion IV) to transport tourists in the Niagara Falls area
1986
Ontario Bus Industries begins assembling and selling the Orion III, a 60-foot articulated bus for the Canadian market
1988
The first Orion transit bus specifically designed to operate on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is put into service

Design of the new Orion VII low-floor bus is completed. Sales backlog of the new model is over 1,000 buses

The Orion VII diesel-electric hybrid bus is introduced to the market, the fleet of diesel-electric hybrid buses log 1,000,000 miles.
2005
New York City Transit and New York City MTA places largest hybrid bus order to date – 500 Orion VII diesel-electric hybrid buses
2006
The Orion VII diesel-electric hybrid bus is awarded the best fuel economy and lowest maintenance costs by an independent survey, Orion Bus Industries formally becomes DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses North America.
2007
The Orion VII Next Generation is launched to the market, a Lithium-ion energy storage option is offered for the Orion VII diesel-electric hybrid bus starting in 2008, DaimlerChrysler sold Chrysler and became Daimler AG, as a result became Daimler Buses North America.
2010
Mississauga becomes ISO 14,001 certified
