Main production location for SUVs: Tuscaloosa is the main production location for the Mercedes-Benz family of SUVs. M-, GL-, and R-Class are produced exclusively in Alabama and shipped from there to markets worldwide. Starting in 2014, the Tuscaloosa plant also will produce the successor generation of the current C-Class exclusively for the North American market.
