Mobility Concepts
car2gether - "Ridesharing 2.0"
The car2gether ride-share community arranges free seats in vehicles and brings suitable drivers and passengers together - spontaneously and even en route thanks to smartphone apps and a mobile website.
Since the autumn of 2010 the ride-share community has been tested in the regions of Ulm and Aachen. Within the framework of the pilot project the functions of the system are being intensively tested and mobility needs ascertained in close dialogue with the users.

The interface with other means of transport is of key importance here: since the start of the pilot project car2gether in Ulm has been linked to the car2go mobility concept. Free car2go vehicles in the vicinity can be located and booked directly on the car2gether website and using smartphones. And if users decide to rent a car2go vehicle they can immediately offer the free seat via car2gether, thus reducing the cost of the journey.
In the Aachen region car2gether is linked with local public transport. As soon as a car2gether customer enters a ride search the system also suggests suitable transport connections from the Aachen transport association (AVV) as transportation alternatives with three AVV connections which come closest to the desired starting point and time. |

car2gether is a supplementary solution for the ongoing transformation of individual mobility. car2gether journeys help to use existing resources more efficiently and to relieve the strain on the roads. Its intelligent linking with other means of transport and services offers users attractive mobility prospects – anytime and anywhere. |
