Mercedes-Benz reaches new heights in November with best-ever monthly sales
  • Strong November sales across the entire Mercedes-Benz model lineup consolidated the 2011 record year with customers in China buying nearly 175,290 units so far this year and driving a year-to-date growth of 35%.
  • The locally produced LWB E-Class and C-Class together attained another record month of nearly 7,570 units sold, representing a combined growth rate of 52% for the first 11 months in 2011.
  • The SUV family continues to drive into fresh territory with nearly 49,225 units year-to-date, a growth of 91% over the same period last year.
  • smart surpassed the 10,000 unit mark for China in November, almost tripling sales year-on-year.
Sales of Mercedes-Benz, smart, Maybach and AMG continued the remarkable pace seen throughout the year, maintaining growth momentum as more than 18,770 new customers in China chose the three-pointed star as their preferred brand in November (+33%). Sales for November pushed 2011 year-to-date sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in China to nearly 175,290 units, a 35% increase compared to the same period last year.
“This has been our best month ever in China historically, showing that sales momentum of Mercedes-Benz is continuing in the Chinese market" said an optimistic Klaus Maier, President & CEO of Mercedes- Benz (China) Ltd. "In addition, sales were very positive across the board, with Chinese customers showing more and more variety in their tastes for different models from our broad lineup.”
The solid foundation of the E-Class and C-Class continued to strengthen as nearly 7,570 units were delivered in China in November, representing a combined growth rate of 52% for the first 11 months in 2011. This shows Mercedes-Benz is bringing more locally produced vehicles to a broad range of customers.
The success of the SUV family highlights changing lifestyles in China as nearly 49,225 drivers year-to-date chose the freedom of a Mercedes-Benz SUV without compromising on luxury. As the best sales in SUV family, GLK almost doubled sales over the same period last year. The local production of the GLK compact SUV ensures that demand will be met for this exciting model for years to come.
Urban customers are increasingly responding to modern city life by opting for the smart as their preferred option for sustainable mobility. Sales surged to nearly 10,420 this year, representing a year-on-year growth of 188% over the same period last year.
