Compliance with Tradition
Observance of the law and legislation is an established commercial virtue with an old tradition. Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, the fathers of our company upheld this virtue and our current Board of Management headed by Dr. Zetsche, emphasizes it. “At Daimler compliance is not an option, but an integral and permanent component of our corporate culture.”
In the many decades since Benz & Co. was founded in Mannheim in 1883 and Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft in Cannstatt in 1890, our business has become increasingly more complex and international. The legal requirements which our employees are required to fulfill without qualification today are more multifarious than ever before. Maintaining compliance with these requirements is our top priority. This is also expressed by the fact that integrity – along with passion, respect and discipline – is a fundamental corporate value at Daimler.
Definition of Compliance
The word compliance describes this attitude the best, because it means “adherence, conformity” or “acquiescence”.
By the term compliance, we understand the conformity of Daimler’s activities with all laws, rules & regulations for the business and the related internal policies & guidelines, which the Daimler group is guided by or to which we have voluntarily committed ourselves.
The compliance organization at Daimler
The Group Compliance unit (GC) defines the annual compliance program and supports its global implementation.
